- I’m feeling #blessedbeyondmeasure today. Why? Because I got to spend the day with my beautiful Mother and several of our dear friends to celebrate Mom’s 89th birthday. Most of my close friends do not have a living Mother, so a few of them have adopted mine as theirs. That is fine with me, as We have always held our friends as close as family. As I told my Mother today, “ Age is the number of years the world has been enjoying you…. Lucky World!!” And, #LUCKY #me !What to do with leftover sugared cranberries? We traveled from Warsaw to Wrocław by train and had a whole first class reserved car to ourselves! As we walked from the train station in Wrocław to our hotel we noticed lots of people, young and old, wearing red cone hats- so we followed to find out what was going on and found the Wroclawski Festival Krasnoludkow. This is an annual festival of the Polish gnome, of which there is a cartoon show . And Wrocław is famous for its over 300 bronze gnomes stationed throughout the city. The gnome representation was originally used during the protest movement of the 1980’s while Poland was under Soviet rule. They were called the Orange Alternative and either people would dress up as gnomes or paint pictures of them all over government propaganda.

Oddly enough, it’s adversity that reminds us how little control we have over all the things that we value. It reminds us once again to be thankful for the millions of things that have accidentally gone right. We’re ready to bid farewell to 2010. Look out 2011… HERE WE COME! Continue reading
